89th And Broke

I'm a young professional living in Astoria (formerly of Williamsburg, the UES and Murray Hill - I move a lot!). I'm always looking for something fun to do or the best place to grab a drink and dinner at an affordable price around the city. Have a suggestion? Email me at Laura AT 89thandbroke DOT com.

20 Readers Get Free Theatre Tickets!

Normally we have a giveaway for one lucky reader to go with a friend to a theatre production….but this time, 20 of you are going to get to see this show – FOR FREE.

Award-winning theatre companies Rescue Agreement and CAP21 bring you If [or When] the Roof Falls In, a new intellectual spectacle. By merging IOW web graphic small (Grant McDonald's conflicted copy 2013-05-16)traditional plot with innovative technology, Rescue Agreement’s works are equally invigorating mentally and visually.

If [or When] the Roof Falls In is a theatrical experience set in “The Library”, a space where you can reference any memory in human history. Surrounded by images of the past and possible futures, Ethan and Charlotte debate the value of memory; Charlotte clings desperately to the past, and Ethan can’t wait to let his go. Helped by a mischievous janitor and a whimsical intern, they must decide whether to save or destroy The Library, and with it, the institution of memory. There are no easy answers here. What do you want to forget? What do you need to remember?

Tickets for If [or When] the Roof Falls In are still available on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm through June 29th at the CAP21 5th Floor Theatre located at 18 West 18th Street (between 5th and 6th aves).
